We doubt this will be as fun or as viral as the last Mister Donut collaboration we discussed, which saw people posting pics of their Diglett Pokemon donuts. However, the new collaboration – a celebration of the donut maker’s 50th anniversary of selling their old-fashioned donut – looks both tantalizing and artful.
“misdo meets PIERRE MARCOLINI” is the second collaboration between the famous donut franchise and the Belgian chocolatier. The line-up of five donuts are all made with a chocolate dough and aim for a balance of chocolate and cream flavors.

In celebration of the old-fashioned’s anniversary, the offering contains two variations. The Mu-Fashioned and Framboise Fashioned use rice and whole-wheat flour. The Mu-Fashioned uses a powdered chocolate coating, while the Framboise layers a chocolate coating on top of a raspberry sauce.

The donuts go on sale in Japan starting January 10th at Mister DOnut nationwide. Prices range between 291 yen and 374 yen. You can also get a stylish box of four for 1,348 yen (USD $8.50).

Pierre Marcolini is a Belgian-born chocolatier who’s won numerous awards for his work. The chef has around six shops in Tokyo already, one of which you will probably not be surprised to learn is in Ginza.
Mister Donut, run in Japan by Duskin, is originally an American brand that disappeared from the States, yet has a dedicated following here. It struggled a little during the global health crisis and has also been fending off challengers such as Krispy Kreme. However, the chain’s been holding its own lately despite the closure of some high-profile stores, most notably in Akihabara.
